All-on-4 replaces a full arch of teeth using four dental implants to support a fixed set of new teeth. It is designed for people who are missing most or all of their teeth in the upper or lower jaw. At Genuine Care Dental in Saratoga, CA, these are also called implant-supported dentures, because the new teeth rest on implants rather than on your gums.
Living with failing or missing teeth affects more than chewing. Sore gums, sensitivity, and a loose set of dentures can make eating and speaking a chore, and many people start avoiding photos or social events. Because dentures are removable and rest on your gums, while All-on-4 teeth are fixed in place, the teeth feel more stable for eating and speaking. If you are missing only a few teeth, other options may fit better, and we will say so.
You may be if you are missing many teeth or have teeth that cannot be saved. We use a 3D scan to check your jawbone and plan your treatment. If you have lost bone, there are often options, such as bone grafting or placing implants where the bone is strongest, and we explain your choices.
We begin with an exam, a 3D scan, and a detailed plan for the full arch. Any teeth that cannot be saved are removed, and four implants are placed to anchor your new teeth. Depending on your case, we may be able to place a temporary set of teeth at the time of surgery. Once you have healed, your final teeth are made to fit your bite, and we explain your plan at every step.
The area is numbed, and Dr. Rong offers IV sedation in-house, so you can stay relaxed through the whole visit.
Expect some swelling and soreness for the first few days, and a soft-food diet while you heal. Clear instructions come home with you, and we check in as the implants settle. Once healed, brush your new teeth daily, clean under them with a water flosser or interdental brushes as we show you, and keep your regular checkups and cleanings so we can monitor your implants.
