Welcome to Genuine Care Dental, a family practice on Saratoga Avenue where the person who greets you on the phone is the same person who welcomes you at the door. We are glad you found us, and we would like to tell you a little about who we are before you ever sit in the chair.
How it started
Dr. Hao John Rong opened the practice in 2014 with a simple idea: patients should be known by name, not by their teeth. Mia, who grew up in Korea and came to America to study business, joined him during COVID to run the business side and look after the patient experience. As Mia puts it, "In the end, it's all about people." Today the practice cares for around 1,500 active patients, and we still try to remember each of them as a person.
One voice from your first call
When you call us, whoever answers becomes your host. They gather what we need to prepare your visit, greet you when you arrive, and introduce you to your dental team. If they are not at the front desk that day, they brief a colleague, so you never have to explain yourself twice. Dominique, who leads our front office, says it best: "You are not a patient. You are a person, and you will be treated as such."
Care that starts with a question
Dr. Christina Lin grew up just down the street did her residency at the VA hospital in Palo Alto, and went on to run its clinic for homeless veterans. She begins every treatment by asking whether it needs to be done at all. If it does not, or if you would rather not, we look at other options. Dr. Rong, with more than a decade at this practice, handles a wide range of care in-house, from same-day crowns made in our office to implants and All-on-4, so you can often stay with the same team from start to finish.
A few things to make the visit easier
Dentistry does not have to feel like an ordeal. Our office has a coffee bar, Netflix on the screens, an anxiety blanket and calming aroma for procedures, neck pillows, lip balm, dark sunglasses, and free phone chargers. If you feel nervous, tell us. We will slow down and ask what would help.

We accept all major PPO insurances and offer financing options, and we also have an in-house membership plan for patients without insurance.
